The Lab offers a range of transportation options to help you get to the Lab easily and sustainably, including carpooling, biking and e-biking, free shuttle services to and from local transit hubs, and parking on-site.
In celebration of Earth Month, pledge to try at least one alternative form of commuting, as small changes can make a big difference.
Biking
Cycling provides an alternative to driving and promotes sustainability and wellness in the workplace. The Lab fosters a bike-friendly campus with bike racks, showers, and Fix-It stations across site. Lab community members are also eligible for monthly bike and e-bike leases. Learn more about cycling at the Lab.
Carpool/Vanpool
Carpooling offers many benefits over commuting alone, including reducing air pollution and carbon emissions while saving money through shared expenses. Lab carpoolers also have access to designated carpool parking spaces. The Lab facilitates carpooling through a partnership with Scoop Commute, and for added peace of mind, the Bay Area’s Guaranteed Ride Home Program ensures you can get home in an emergency when commuting via an alternative mode of transportation. Learn more about carpooling at the Lab.
Shuttles
The Lab provides shuttle bus services across seven routes, from Oakland and Emeryville to North Berkeley, for employees and guests with business on site. Routes include stops at UC Berkeley, Downtown Berkeley BART, Rockridge BART, and MacArthur BART, making Lab shuttles a seamless addition to your public transit commute. Learn more about taking Lab shuttles.
Other Resources
The Lab offers many additional resources to support sustainable commuting, including EV charging stations, carpool, bike, and motorcycle parking maps, commuter benefits programs, and CO2 emissions comparisons to help you see the impact of choosing an alternative mode of transportation to driving alone.
