Scoop Commute, Berkeley Lab’s official carpooling partner, has launched a new feature to give drivers greater flexibility and control when scheduling carpool trips to and from the Lab.
Through the new Early Shortlist feature, drivers at the Lab can now view potential rider options and choose their preferred carpool matches before the standard matching deadline, rather than waiting for automated assignments.
How It Works
After scheduling a commute trip in the Scoop app, drivers can select “See Shortlist instant match options” to view riders with overlapping trips. From there, drivers can review the rider’s trip details and select “Match us” to confirm the carpool. Drivers can also select a pair of riders when an eligible two-rider match is available.
For riders, the Early Shortlist feature offers added visibility, allowing them to view and manage shortlist requests while waiting for a driver to select a match.
Key Details to Keep in Mind
- Advance Scheduling: Trips must be scheduled before the matching window closes to access Early Shortlist options.
- Pickup Window: Original trip requests require a pickup window of at least 15 minutes.
- Seamless Experience: Once a match is made, the experience is the same as any other Scoop carpool, with the match simply happening earlier within the commuter’s scheduled window.
