Gadgil also appears in the Bayh-Dole Coalition’s second annual “Faces of American Innovation” report for his groundbreaking work in water sanitation technology. I am greatly pleased and honored to receive this recognition,” said Gadgil. “This award truly illustrates how the Bayh-Dole Act can benefit society. It empowers researchers receiving federal research funding to push the inventions to commercialization and societal impact.” The Bayh-Dole Act empowers universities to patent and license publicly-funded discoveries, supporting transformative advancements like UV Waterworks.
The award is one of many received by Gadgil during his career for his inventions and contributions to improving lives worldwide. Last year, Gadgil was among 12 laureates to receive the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, awarded by the White House.
