Two concurrent projects on the hill site will close Blackberry Gate and Grizzly Gate on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, including vendors and visitors, must use Strawberry Gate that day. With all site traffic routed through a single gate, please allow extra time for entry and exit and plan accordingly.
Blackberry Gate Closure
Blackberry Gate will be closed to all entry and exit on Saturday, Aug. 22, while crews perform a major crane lift for the NERSC Facility Upgrade at B59. Drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians should use Strawberry Gate from 6 a.m. to about 6 p.m. to enter and exit the Lab that day. For questions, please contact David Topete, PIMD Project Manager (DTopete@lbl.gov) at (510) 329-9904.
Grizzly Gate Closure
McMillan Road will close fully from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Aug. 22, 29, and Sept. 12 for hazardous tree removal north of Building 77 as part of the Lab’s wildfire mitigation work. Grizzly Gate and Shipping & Receiving will be inaccessible to pedestrians and vehicles, in both directions, on those dates. For questions, please contact Justin Bray (Justinbray@lbl.gov) at (510) 603-1371.
Emergency vehicle access will be maintained across both projects in the event of an emergency.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to upgrade Lab facilities and make it a safer place for the next 100 years.
