In recent weeks, a number of UC Retirement Savings Program accounts managed by Fidelity Investments experienced fraudulent activity. Fidelity has identified the issues and taken swift action to secure the affected accounts. It appears about a dozen Lab employees’ accounts were affected, and those account holders have been contacted via email. Fidelity will reimburse any losses from unauthorized account activity, provided the activity was not due to an employee’s actions.
As a good practice, please review your Fidelity account(s) and other financial accounts regularly. Sign into any accounts you have with Fidelity—UC accounts at www.netbenefits.com and personal Fidelity retail accounts at www.fidelity.com—to ensure your information is accurate and current. Pay close attention to your profile information, especially mobile numbers and emails associated with multi-factor authentication (MFA) and account alerts.
If you notice any unusual activity or unauthorized changes to your account information, contact Fidelity immediately at 866-682-7787, Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. PT. You can also contact the UC Retirement Administration Service Center at (800) 888-8267.
In the coming weeks, Fidelity will reach out to all participants with details on the incident and additional security measures being implemented.
