Law enforcement at the Lab is provided through a contract with the University of California Police Department (UCPD). While they may be present to assist with more serious incidents, such as trespassers on site or vehicle accidents, their presence is also to ensure the safety and security of the Lab facilities and Lab personnel.  

They are also on the lookout for vehicle violations. The most common violation is speeding, but they have issued citations for expired registration tags, and parking in a fire lane or in disabled parking spots without displaying the proper placard. They do not enforce orange circle or blue triangle parking restrictions. 

The Lab’s speed limit at all times is 15 m.p.h. Remember to drive at or under the speed limit for the safety of colleagues and the Lab’s wildlife. And only park in designated parking spaces.
