This year, get a free scoop of ice cream when you use Scoop to get to the Lab for the 48th Lab Runaround, an annual tradition that brings everyone together for a fun run across the Lab’s hill site, as well as a bike-around, movement classes, and a Finish Line Festival.

Scoop Commute is the Lab’s carpooling partner, offering a convenient, affordable, and sustainable way to alleviate parking issues.

How It Works: Scoop dynamically matches you with fellow Lab community members going the same way, whether you’re a passenger or a driver. In the app, riders set their home addresses where they can be picked up and dropped off. To schedule rides, participants can make morning commute requests by 9 p.m. the night before and afternoon return trips by 2 p.m. the same day.

How to Get Your Free Ice Cream:

  • Carpool to the Lab Day-of using Scoop: As a driver or a rider, show your app at the Scoop tent at the Finish Line Festival.
  • New to Scoop? Download the app, book a ride or drive for the following week, and then show your scheduled trip at the Scoop tent at the Finish Line Festival.
  • Limited quantities available.

Berkeley Lab employees who carpool with Scoop enjoy excellent benefits. Both drivers and riders can view these benefits within the app by registering with their @lbl.gov email address, and drivers in the program can park in one of the Lab’s designated carpool spaces.
