Earthquakes are a fact of life in California. To round out National Preparedness Month, the Berkeley Lab community is invited to a screening of the film “Quake Heroes” over Zoom and in the Building 50 auditorium at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26.
The screening is followed by a panel discussion at 2:25 p.m. with earthquake expert Angie Lux, from the UC Berkeley Seismology Lab, and Great ShakeOut drill planners Ayla Quesada and Ian Servin, from the Lab’s Security and Emergency Management Division. Click on this link to calendar the event.
“Quake Heroes” blends Hollywood storytelling and real-life heroism and was produced to inspire individual and community resilience in preparation for the next big earthquake. If you can’t make it to the panel discussion, it will be recorded.
As part of National Preparedness Month, this week’s activity is to attend the film screening, and review and update your emergency kit or go bag.
Note that today, Wednesday, Sept. 25, the Lab will also host “Stop the Bleed” first aid training sessions that last four hours and begin at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Registration is required.
