Lynn’s remarkable career in public service spanned over three decades, beginning with the Internal Revenue Service in 1987. She later joined the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Contracts Office in 1989, and in 1993, she started her journey in high-performance computing (HPC) and telecommunications at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. During her tenure, Lynn played a pivotal role in acquiring the ASCI Blue Pacific supercomputer and contributed to the development of the ESnet3 and ESnet4 networks.

In 1998, Lynn joined Berkeley Lab, where she spent 24 years guiding the acquisitions of eight major HPC systems, including Curie, Seaborg, Franklin, Hopper, Edison, Cori, Perlmutter, and Doudna. Her creative problem-solving and outside-the-box thinking earned her a reputation as a trusted expert in her field. Lynn retired from the Lab in 2021 but continued to serve as a consultant, sharing her expertise and guidance with colleagues.

Lynn’s dedication and Berkeley Lab career were recognized with the LBNL Director’s Award for Exceptional Achievement in 2015. She also developed the Best Value Source Selection process for large-scale computer procurements, which has been widely adopted within the DOE laboratories.

A devoted mentor, Lynn generously shared her knowledge, time, and wisdom with countless colleagues, guiding them throughout their careers. Her 38 years of experience, 36 of which were in procurement, made her a go-to expert in all aspects of LBNL Procurement. Lynn’s passion for her work and her love for the Lab’s atmosphere and people made her a beloved figure.

Lynn was known for her tireless work ethic, driven by a deep passion for her work and a commitment to excellence. She loved what she did, and it showed in every aspect of her career. Even in her retirement, Lynn continued to contribute to the Lab, sharing her expertise and guidance with colleagues, and demonstrating that her dedication and enthusiasm for her work never wavered.

Lynn was an avid reader, devoted mother, grandmother, and proud Texan. She enjoyed a good laugh and was known for her hours of engaging conversations and debates.

Lynn was the best in Procurement. She made my job in AP much easier. She was attentive and quick to response.
