President Carter had an outstanding record of public service during his lifetime, and his contributions to the United States and the world are much appreciated.

In recognition of his service, federal offices will be closed and federal employees will have the day off on Thursday.

Lab flags will continue to fly at half-mast for 30 days in tribute to President Carter. As the nation mourns his passing, this is an excellent opportunity to reflect on public service and what that means to us as stewards of our federal national labs.
