Starting next year, the Mid-Career S&E program will launch quarterly coffee hours, workshops, and discussions, with topics developed by an Advisory Board consisting of mid-career S&Es. Individual and team consultations are being piloted to support S&Es with their career goals and transitions. The program will also serve as a connection hub with other offices and resources across the lab involved in career development, including divisions and Areas, offices within Operations and the Laboratory Directorate, and the Mentoring@LBNL initiative.

The program welcomes participation from scientific staff including but not limited to: research scientists, staff scientists, senior scientists, scientific engineers, engineering professionals, CSEs, SEAs, and policy and technology researchers. CPO is piloting this effort with mid-career scientists and engineers, and similar programs for mid-careers in other roles at the lab may grow if there is interest.
