April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, a great reminder for all of us to be intentional behind the wheel. Whether you’re driving a fleet vehicle or in your personal vehicle, you can help reduce preventable accidents onsite by using a simple but effective practice — GOAL: Get Out And Look.
Before moving a parked vehicle, walk around it and visually inspect your surroundings. When more than one person is in the vehicle, use a spotter, as preventing accidents and incidents is everyone’s responsibility.
Use GOAL:
- Before backing up
- When navigating tight spaces
- When unsure about clearance
- Any time you’re moving a parked vehicle
This practice is designed to protect people and property and reinforce the Lab’s safety culture. Remember, safe driving is a choice you make every time you get behind the wheel.
