With warmer spring and summer weather approaching, it is a good time to consider reserving one of the Lab’s outdoor event spaces for your next on-site gathering. The outdoor spaces were selected because they meet important meeting criteria such as accessibility, views, wi-fi, and easy delivery of food and supplies. In addition, some of the spaces allow for serving alcoholic beverages with the proper approval.
Facilities makes it easier to arrange the space with a new Outdoor Space Configuration Request via the Facilities Work Request Center. Once on the site, you can select the outdoor space option. For reservations requiring layout reconfiguration, a schematic showing your desired layout is required along with the appropriate Fire Marshal-approved plan. If augmenting the existing furniture with rental furniture, the rental vendor must place the rental furniture.
This does not reserve the space. Reservation requests for Outdoor Spaces can be sent to ConferenceResources@lbl.gov.
Evren Essner, Head of Protocol for the Lab, has used the third-floor patio of the Molecular Foundry for a reception. “The space is beautiful, and the view is stunning. The outdoor furniture is heavy and difficult to move, so having Conference Services provide a link to a Facilities work order makes setting up less stressful.”
Seleste Rodriguez from NERSC has used several outdoor spaces for her events. “I used the patio space between Buildings 30 and 33 for a reception for close to 100 students who came to the Lab for a boot camp. It gave people room to mingle, and I saw many of the students taking photos because the view from there was incredible.”
