The Resiliency and Respect Series is pleased to bring the next event on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m., featuring Nobel Laureate Saul Perlmutter, who will share his perspectives from his latest book. Co-authored with a psychologist and a philosopher, Third Millennium Thinking: Creating Sense in a World of Nonsense, has been hailed as “a roadmap for making more effective decisions in an increasingly complex and noisy world.” The book is based on a course the three authors teach at UC Berkeley, which explains how scientists use tricks of the trade to make the best decisions in the face of overwhelming information.
Perlmutter’s presentation will be followed by a discussion with Lab Director Mike Witherell about these ideas and their relevance to the Lab community. The talk will be in the Building 50 auditorium and on streaming.lbl.gov. Auditorium seating is open and Dr. Perlmutter will sign his book following the program.
