Berkeley Lab employees and affiliates will be able to join the Scoop Commute carpool program on Nov. 11, introducing a convenient, affordable, and eco-friendly daily commute option.
Participants are matched with other members of the Lab community and will be eligible for average ride costs of $1 to $5 each way, and drivers will be reimbursed for their trip expenses.
“The partnership with Scoop Commute brings yet another transportation solution to the Lab community – one that lessens the impact on our environment and increases the flexibility for commuters,” said John Chernowski, Berkeley Lab’s Transportation & Parking Demand Senior Manager.
Chernowski adds that riders will save on fuel, tolls, and vehicle wear and tear. Drivers in the program can park in one of the Lab’s designated carpool spaces and will be reimbursed for every carpool trip.
On Nov. 6, those with Lab email addresses will receive a customized email invitation directly from Scoop Commute. To join the program, simply click on the link to accept the invitation and follow the instructions.
The carpooling program is flexible and allows participants to choose rides that fit their schedules. Riders set their home addresses where they can be picked up and dropped off.
Chernowski points out that carpooling reduces traffic congestion and emissions, contributing to a cleaner environment. It’s also an opportunity to meet new colleagues and build professional relationships during a commute.
Watch out for the email in your Lab inbox come Nov. 6, and if you have questions please email Scoop at support@scoopcommute.com anytime.
