Berkeley Lab is committed to developing the next generation of scientists, engineers, and STEM professionals. To better support this important goal, the Lab is changing how its internship programs are supported to improve efficiency and provide a more consistent experience for everyone involved.

The Lab is consolidating the K-12 programs and the WD&E Office within the Lab Directorate. Faith Dukes will serve as the office’s director. Faith has a proven track record of successfully managing internship programs and has been instrumental in the growth of our K-12 programs. Her experience and leadership both at the Lab and across the DOE National Lab complex will be invaluable as these programs are brought together to expand internship opportunities across the institution.

These changes will be in phases, with the new office fully operational in the fall. In the coming months, the office will merge internship programs and create a central point of contact. This new consolidated structure will not only improve how the Lab supports interns in institutional-level programs and those offered within Areas and Divisions but also strengthen the relationships with teachers, faculty, and those in technical and operations roles.
