For John Elliott, the Lab’s Chief Sustainability Officer, riding an e-bike to the Lab just makes sense. “I look forward to my e-bike commute. It makes the hill up to the Lab very doable. I feel energized – but not so much that I need to take a shower.”
Others in the Lab community can experience the benefits of commuting to the Lab on an e-bike through a special e-bike lease promotion of $50 off the monthly lease cost from Ridepanda.* You can test ride a pedal bike or e-bike from Ridepanda on Wednesday, June 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Guest House parking lot (Lot Z). You can view vehicle options by logging into the Lab’s custom Ridepanda website at https://get.ridepanda.com/berkeley-lab.
Janie Pinterits, Program Manager in the IDEA Office, has been riding her e-bike rain or shine to reach the Lab’s hill site for three years. “I test-drove several e-bike models and chose the best one for hills. Besides the exhilarating ride, I love not worrying about finding parking. Given how rapidly e-bike design is innovating, leasing seems like a great way to try out and find the best fit without making a significant outlay for a new e-bike.”
E-bikes need to follow the same requirements as any bike riding at the Lab, which include wearing a helmet and obeying the speed limit, stopping at stop signs, yielding to pedestrians, and riding on roads or in bike lanes.
*Lab Promotion: The first 80 customers will get $50 per month off the regularly-priced e-bike lease for the first 12 months of the lease.
You can also view vehicle options, book a test ride at your convenience, and check out a vehicle by logging into the Lab’s custom Ridepanda website at https://get.ridepanda.com/berkeley-lab.
