Congratulations to Amando Juarez Quintero, this week’s winner of a professionally assembled go-bag. We will have a new drawing every week for those attending the Lunch & Learn virtually or in person.

And as part of National Preparedness Month, stop by the Emergency Management team pop-up at the Building 91 food trucks every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can learn more about wildfire awareness and spin the prize wheel.

On Thursday at noon, the learning continues with a new preparedness Lunch & Learn: Staying Safe and Connected: Lockdown Readiness and Emergency Communication. Communications are always critical, but they are more so during an emergency. The Lab has multiple ways to stay in touch before, during, and after an emergency, but you also need to take action.

Join the Lab’s Ryan Culpepper, Security, and Francine Sneddon, Business Continuity Specialist, on Thursday, Sept. 18, at noon as they discuss what to do if you receive a lockdown notification and how you will be kept informed of the next steps you need to take. Learn about the communications channels the Lab uses in an emergency. Have your cell phone handy to sign up and download valuable apps.

The session will be hybrid, held on Zoom and in Building 74, room 104. Add the session to your calendar.

Take a moment during National Preparedness Month to do one good thing to prepare yourself for an emergency, such as locating your closest Wildfire Temporary Refuge Building. Not sure where that may be?  Check out the map.
